Guidelines

  1. All participants must bring their student card or a valid document to confirm their group (secondary / university) for entry into the competition waiting area.
  2. Participants who belong to secondary school division must wear school uniforms or sport attire; those without uniforms will not be allowed to enter the competition area.
  3. All team members must wear safety glasses during the competition.
  4. Each team will be assigned a working table for preparation purposes.
  5. All blimps must pass an inspection before the competition, covering dimensions, structure, safety labels, and the hardware/software used (please refer to the official technical handbook for details).
  6. Once passed, the inspection label must remain intact. Any damage, alteration, or removal will result in disqualification.
  7. All team members must follow the instructions of referees and staff. Obstacle size, shape, and layout may vary during the competition.
  8. All teams must bring their own laptops and related gear (e.g., extension cords, chargers), ensuring compliance with technical specifications.
  9. During the competition, all team members should be responsible for protecting their equipment and properties.
  10. During the competition, coaches should take care of their team members’ health and safety.
  11. Coaches are not allowed to communicate tactics with their team members during the competition. Violators will receive a yellow card warning for the entire team. Accumulating two yellow cards will result in the team's mandatory ejection from the competition
  12. All teams should arrange their own lunches and drinks during the competition; however, eating is not allowed in the Hall. Please take away all litter before leaving the venue every day.
  13. Teams and schools are responsible for compensation if they caused any facility damage.
  14. Participants must not interfere with other teams' equipment or the progress of the competition in any form, including but not limited to using sound wave jammers, obstructing sensor views, or deliberately generating airflow to affect blimp flight. The violating team will be disqualified and must leave the competition venue immediately.
  15. In order not to affect the power supply system during competition, please do not charge electronic equipment which is not related to the competition in the preparation area, such as mobile phones etc. Offenders will result in disqualification and bear for contingency cost.
  16. During lunch break, the venue will be closed temporarily.
  17. If there are doubts about the announced results, a written appeal must be submitted by the team captain or coach to the judging committee within 30 minutes after the announcement of the results

COMPETITION FORMATS

Obstacle Race
Object Delivery Task

Competition 1: Blimp Race with Obstacles

  • Secondary School Division: Teams will manually control the blimp with remote control to navigate through obstacles and complete the designated track within the time limit.
  • University Division: Teams are required to develop vision-based autonomous flight control algorithms, using onboard cameras and tag detection to enable the blimp to perform obstacle avoidance and complete track navigation.

Competition 2: Object Delivery Task

  • Secondary School Division: Teams are required to mount an object on the blimp and manually control it to drop the object into the designated target area.
  • University Division: Participants are required to develop autonomous flight and object dropping algorithms, enabling the blimp to complete the object dropping task accurately without manual intervention.

Scoring Criteria

  • Blimp Race with ObstaclesEvaluation is based on the number of obstacles successfully cleared. In case of a tie, the shortest completion time will be used as the tiebreaker.
  • Object Delivery TaskEvaluation is based on a combination of delivery accuracy (distance error) and efficiency (completion time) .

Design performance will be evaluated according to innovation and functionality in the blimp design.
