AUTONOMOUS DRIVING
HKUST-developed autonomous vehicle gets Hong Kong's first movement permit on public roads
The autonomous vehicle "Hercules" independently developed by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) obtained the first Movement Permit on public roads in Hong Kong several days ago. Equipped with technologies such as a map in full 3D, large-scale visual space, and sensor navigation, the autonomous vehicle is capable of detecting obstacles on the road and planning its route after collecting road data, to achieve a driverless delivery assignment. It is understood that the driverless car can also assist in rescue and disaster relief, and help communities distribute anti-epidemic supplies.
